Mohamed Elrayah

Marketing and Management MSc

Mohamed pursued a postgraduate degree because he wanted to progress to a senior position in the marketing industry but the staff at BCU inspired his love for teaching. He鈥檚 now a lecturer and enjoys passing on his expertise.

鈥淚 have 15 years鈥 experience working in sales and marketing in Sudan and Saudi Arabia and I鈥檇 say I鈥檓 a natural marketer. Marketing has always come very naturally to me, but I wanted some knowledge behind me to progress further in my marketing career.

I looked into completing marketing courses and different universities all over the world, but BCU seemed like the best option for me to learn a lot in a short amount of time, so I could put my learning into practice as soon as possible. The course offers a great mixture of marketing and management that I didn鈥檛 see offered at any other university. It was perfect for the topics I wanted to learn to better my knowledge.

I was excited to cover the content on the course but concerned because English isn鈥檛 my first language and I struggled when I arrived in the UK. My confidence increased because of the staff and students at BCU, everyone is so friendly here and the staff were supportive from day one.

The staff at BCU taught me that isn鈥檛 just one way of being a teacher, learning can be fun and still be effective. The course involved a lot of collaboration which I really enjoyed. That鈥檚 what inspired me to go into lecturing myself, I saw how inspirational the lecturers were and how they encouraged all the students to work together and knew I wanted to do the same for others.

I鈥檓 now a lecturer in The Global Banking School. I love teaching and educating others about the business world. Every day, I鈥檓 able to use my marketing experience and the knowledge built on the MSc to help students grow and become marketing professionals.聽

One day, I鈥檇 like to create my own business school overseas. I acquired a lot of leadership experience on the MSc and learned how to work with different departments as a manager. The level of collaboration on the Master鈥檚 isn鈥檛 something I鈥檇 encountered before, and I learnt a lot about the diplomacy that鈥檚 required to be a leader. Plus, I became well versed in managing the financial side of a business, which will be essential as an entrepreneur.

In such a short amount of time, I鈥檝e learnt so much. I鈥檓 proud of how far I鈥檝e come and developed as a person and professional.

To me, 鈥業 am BCU鈥 means I have the opportunity to change my life and change my mindset about education.鈥
