Naush Sabah
As well as a lecturer in Creative Writing at BCU, Naush is a freelance writer, editor, and critic specializing in contemporary poetry. She is Editor and Publishing Director at Poetry 探花直播 Literary Journal, a biannual periodical of contemporary poetry and poetry criticism, described by the TLS as 鈥榠ntellectually lithe and provocative鈥 with a 鈥榙ynamic and incisive critical section鈥. Her writing has appeared in The Poetry Review, the TLS, PN Review, The Dark Horse, Modern Poetry in Translation, and elsewhere.
A limited-edition double micro-pamphlet box set Heredity/ASTYNOME was published by Broken Sleep Books imprint Legitimate Snack in June 2020. She was shortlisted for the Royal Society of Literature鈥檚 2021 Sky Arts Writers Award. Her debut pamphlet Litanies was published by Guillemot Press in November 2021 and shortlisted for the Michael Marks Poetry Award in 2022. It has been reviewed in The Guardian as having 鈥榮omething of Thomas Hardy鈥檚 bittersweet dialogue with the divine,鈥 and in The Irish Times as, 鈥榓n exciting and auspicious set of poems鈥.
Naush was 探花直播 Literature Festival鈥檚 inaugural Poet-in-Residence in 2022 and she is currently Poet-in-Residence at the 探花直播 & Midland Institute.
