Dr Helen Egan
Helen gained her PhD in Health Psychology, became a Research Fellow in Mental Health and then worked in the NHS before coming to BCU in 2011.
A Reader in Health Psychology her research interests are the role of mindfulness and self-compassion on health and wellbeing, particularly eating behaviours. Additionally, adherence barriers/facilitators to medical regimens in Cystic Fibrosis and in clinical Weight Management. She is interested in student health and academic attainment, and the health and wellbeing of professionals who work in jobs that demand high levels of occupational compassion and evidences the impact this has on health behaviours and self-care.Ìý
