探花直播 (BCU) is delighted to announce its appointment to the newly-formed West Midlands Local Policy innovation Partnership (WM LPIP).
聽are a new initiative funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, part of UK Research & Innovation (UKRI).
The express purpose of LPIPs is to foster collaboration between universities and businesses to tackle levelling up challenges, drive sustainable and inclusive economic growth and reduce regional disparities in the UK.
The inaugural meeting of the West Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership will be a workshop taking place at University of Wolverhampton鈥檚聽 on 20 June 2023 at 8.30am.
Local businesses are encouraged to attend to discuss the challenges facing the region, their vision for the future, and how universities, policymakers and the private sector can better collaborate. The scope of discussion for this first gathering is intentionally broad and will include:
- Capitalising on the region鈥檚 industrial heritage assets
- Transforming the image of the region and pride in place
- Innovation for the future 鈥� including implications for sectors and skills
- The role of culture and the arts in place-based development
- Creating thriving, inclusive and healthy places for all
聽(ESRC) Interim Executive Chair Professor Alison Park says: 鈥淟PIPs present an exciting new way of using the UK鈥檚 strengths in research and innovation to develop place-based solutions to address the UK鈥檚 most pressing local and regional challenges.鈥�
