Daniel Moult, renowned concert organist, recording artist and film presenter, is known as 鈥渙ne of the finest organists of our time鈥 (The Organ). Famed for his virtuosic, intelligent and engaging performances, his musicianship has been praised as 鈥渆xhilarating鈥 (Gramophone), 鈥渄azzling鈥 (The Organ), and 鈥渇ormidable鈥 (Organists鈥 Review).
Daniel鈥檚 innovative approach to the promotion of organ music has seen him presenting and performing in a range of films, of which the most recent is听The English Organ. This is one of the largest film projects ever made about the instrument, with a crowdfunded budget of 拢150,000. The project provides a detailed history of English organ-building and music from Tudor times to the present, spanning 500 years of repertoire and filmed in 33 locations in the UK, USA, Australia and New Zealand. Completed in Autumn 2019, this is sure to be one of the most important musical releases of its time.听 听 听 听
Daniel is director of the highly acclaimed organ department at the Royal 探花直播 Conservatoire. Alongside his colleagues Henry Fairs, Martin Schmeding (Visiting Professor) and Nathan Laube (International Consultant), the department offers educational excellence to aspiring professional musicians. He is one of the consultants for three significant new organs at the Conservatoire, commencing with the recently commissioned Flentrop organ in the style of Schnitger & Hinsz.
As a soloist, Daniel has performed at major venues and festivals in the UK, Europe, Asia and Australia, and concerti appearances in various countries.
Previous film work includes the DVDs听Virtuoso! Music for Organ, a film featuring some of the most demanding organ repertoire of the twentieth-century, and听The Elusive English Organ, a journey through English organ music from Byrd to Wesley. He has made several CDs, including the first solo recording of the newly-restored organ of Arundel Cathedral, and one of Handel's organ concerti and other pieces with the London Early Opera Orchestra for Signum Classics'听Handel at Vauxhall.
Born in Manchester, Daniel studied at Oxford University and the Amsterdam Conservatorium. Whilst at university, he was awarded the Fellowship diploma of the Royal College of Organists with three of the top playing prizes. Previous posts have included Visiting Organ Tutor at Chetham鈥檚 School of Music, Royal College of Music Junior Department, Organist & Assistant Director of Music at Coventry Cathedral and Artistic Director of The London Organ Day. A sought-after teacher, he leads masterclasses, workshops and courses around the world. He is a Trustee of the Royal College of Organists, for whom he also examines.听
Other activities have included several published editions, including the听Easy Bach Album听and the听Easy Handel Album听for B盲renreiter, and the Complete Church Organist, Volumes 1 and 2, with RSCM Publications. He is currently working on two new organ anthologies for B盲renreiter. His articles on performance practice and performance-related topics have appeared in various music journals. He has also acted as producer for various commercial recordings.
Based in London, Daniel performs concerts around the world, broadcasts frequently on BBC Television and Radio and has recorded for various record labels including Fugue State, Signum, Regent and Sony BMG.
