He then completed a research-based Masters in Baroque Music centred around a critical edition of Marc鈥橝ntonio Cesti鈥檚 Le Disgrazie d鈥橝more [1667], which was given its first modern premiere at the Batignano Opera Festival. This was followed an edition of Alessandro Stradella鈥檚 San Giovanni Battista [1675], which had its stage premiere at the 探花直播 Early Music Festival 1994, and most recently had an another outing at the Guildhall Opera in 2015. Having begun teaching on a foundation course at the Conservatoire in 2004, he later took up a full-time lectureship in 2010. Beyond general musicianship skills and historical knowledge, Duncan鈥檚 main area of specialism is British music of the later 20th century, with particular emphasis on Sir Michael Tippett and Benjamin Britten.
