Paul Saunders

Multi-Instrumental Consultant

After graduating from the Royal College of Music as a Clarinettist in 1991, Paul has since become one of the busiest woodwind players on the West End circuit.

A relatively new addition to the professorial staff, Paul represents a different sphere of the profession to the traditional orchestral or solo route. As a multi-instrumentalist, he is required to cover many different genres on more than one instrument, and as such advocates that 鈥榃oodwind Doubling鈥 is a speciality in its own right.

During his West End career he has been required to play all Saxophones, Clarinets and Flutes on productions including 鈥榃icked鈥, (where he has been based for the last few years), plus 鈥楤illy Elliot鈥, 鈥楪uys and Dolls鈥, 鈥楲es Miserables鈥, 鈥楾he Producers鈥, 鈥楳ary Poppins鈥, 鈥楥hitty Chitty Bang Bang鈥, 鈥楳y Fair Lady鈥, 鈥楪host鈥, 鈥楳iss Saigon鈥, 鈥楾op Hat鈥 and many more鈥

TV and studio work include LWT Parkinson, BBC Open University and BBC Can鈥檛 Sing Singers. UK Tours include 鈥楽unset Boulevard鈥, 鈥楰iss me Kate鈥, 鈥楾horoughly Modern Millie鈥, 鈥楬alf a Sixpence鈥 and 鈥楢in鈥檛 Misbehavin鈥.

Work outside of the musical theatre genre includes Scottish Opera, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Welsh National Opera, Chameleon Arts Orchestra, CHROMA and the occasional late night cabaret at Madame Jo Jo鈥檚. Spartan Press and Trinity Exam Board have published several of his sheet music compositions including the book specially written for aspiring woodwind doublers, 鈥楽o You Want to Play In Shows鈥.

Paul is an Endorsing Artist for L茅g猫re.
