Dr Rebeca Omordia
Hailed as an 鈥淎frican classical music pioneer鈥 (BBC World Service) and 鈥渁 classical music game changer鈥 (Classical Music), London-based award-winning pianist Rebeca Omordia is an exciting virtuoso with a wide-ranging career as soloist, chamber musician, recording artist and artistic director.
Rebeca鈥檚 many recordings include the BBC Music Magazine Award-winning Piano Concerto by Errollyn Wallen, composed especially for her, with BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by John Andrews; her African Pianism solo album series was named 鈥淩ecording of the Week鈥 by BBC Radio 3 and Editor鈥檚 Choice by Gramophone Magazine.
She has toured worldwide her piano solo programme African Pianism described as 鈥渨ild and shimmering piano gems鈥 (The Guardian) and 鈥淎ppealing and pioneering in equal measure鈥 (Gramophone).
In 2019 she launched the world鈥檚 first ever African Concert Series in London with the aim of creating a platform for the African classical music to be performed, featuring monthly concerts of music by African composers. The series was given recognition in 2022 by becoming resident at the iconic Wigmore Hall in London.
Rebeca has worked with an array of international musicians including a three-year partnership with world renowned cellist Julian Lloyd Webber. They toured the UK as duo partners performing in prestigious venues and on live broadcasts on BBC Radio 3.
