Beetung Goo, Assistant Course Director of Postgraduate Studies and Director of International Student Support Programme, was filmed recently by Taiwanese production company, The Moment Production, for the upcoming docu series on migration 鈥極ver There鈥�.
The series captures the stories of indigenous Taiwanese people who have migrated overseas to live and work.
Beetung, who is a Truku ethnic minority from Hualien, Taiwan, first came to the UK to study a BMus. After completing her Master鈥檚 in Instrumental Performance (French horn), she was appointed International Student Mentor at the Conservatoire.
In the episode set in 探花直播, Director Will Chen and Photographer Shiloh Chen filmed Beetung teaching, in meetings and working with international students at RBC.
The crew said: 鈥淭his was the first time we had visited 探花直播 and RBC. We thought that the atmosphere of a music institution would be more formal and restrained, but when we arrived, we found that the building was novel and the place was very energetic.
鈥淏eetung鈥檚 story and her background are inspiring 鈥� an interesting tale over ten years of how she came from an isolated area in Taiwan to start afresh; living and working in 探花直播.鈥�
Beetung鈥檚 colleagues were also interviewed and filmed, sharing stories about Beetung for a better understanding of her as a person and her career.
The series is expected to air on the Taiwan Indigenous TV (TITV) channel and will be available online on TaiwanPlus in 2025.
Beetung said: 鈥淭his was an unique experience for me and I was so happy to be sharing my musical journey as Truku descent, my passion and work at RBC, and my love for my hometown Hualien.鈥�
