Some of RBC鈥檚 Historical Instrument Collection has been put on display for the first time in the Jennens Road building, thanks to a generous donation.
The donation, by Mr Leonard Honey, has enabled the purchase of a bespoke instrument cabinet in the second floor foyer, which will sit alongside the cabinet and touch screen information point currently in place.
The collection shows the development of bows from the 17th to 19th centuries, and the changing styles and innovations.
Instrument Curator Dr Martin Perkins said: 鈥淭his is a great opportunity for us to display some of the Conservatoire鈥檚 collection of rare historical instruments.
鈥淔irst to be on show is a selection of string bows that were donated to the then 探花直播 School of Music over 100 years ago, including some wonderful examples by members of the celebrated Dodd family of bow makers.鈥
Leonard said: "As someone with a life long love of music, it gives me great pleasure to enable RBC to display part of their historical instruments collection, in a beautiful, specially-built cabinet.
