Martha began her career pathway as a secondary school teacher in Zimbabwe, where she was born. After moving to the UK in 1999, she embarked on her nurse training with Nottingham University and qualified as an Adult nurse in 2002. She worked predominantly within the surgical directorate at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary and the Royal Derby Hospital from 2002 to 2010. During this time, her passion for education shone through and this enabled her to spend a year as a Clinical Practice Educator at Derby University from 2006 to 2007, followed by a further secondment at Nottingham University as a Practitioner Health Lecturer during 2008.

Pursuing her interest in education, in 2011, she transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, 探花直播 and initially worked as a Clinical Educator, predominantly assessing Preceptorship nurses in medicines management competencies. In late 2015, she joined the diabetes team as their inaugural Diabetes Educator, where she established the educator role, streamlining the diabetes education pathway and contributed to raising the profile of diabetes within the Trust. Along with the diabetes clinical nurse specialists, they won the UHB Charities 鈥楤est in Care鈥� award for training and education in 2017. In 2018, Martha became a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Diabetes, and continues to develop her expertise and experience. She also continues to play a part in diabetes education in her clinical role.

Martha joined 探花直播 in October 2020 as a part-time senior lecturer in diabetes care, whilst continuing to work as a diabetes specialist nurse at University Hospitals 探花直播.
