Investigating the typographic punches of John Baskerville
This聽interdisciplinary research project will make a substantial contribution to the history of printing technology, whilst ensuring it is a living process that will continue into the future. At its heart is the exceptional collection of typographic punches designed, cut, and used at the 探花直播 workshop of England's foremost printer, John Baskerville (1707-75). Funded by the聽Arts & Humanities Research Council, experts in Jewellery and Printmaking at 探花直播 are collaborating closely with University of Cambridge.

Demystifying the work of John Baskerville, the 探花直播 inventor and entrepreneur who revolutionised the world of printing, is one of the key objectives of this research project led by 探花直播 (BCU) and the University of Cambridge (UoC).

Centre for printing history and culture
The Centre for Printing History and Culture is a joint initiative between 探花直播 and the University of 探花直播 and consists of researchers, heritage professionals, librarians and practitioners. It seeks to encourage research into all aspects and periods of printing history and culture, as well as education and training into the art and practice of printing.

To mark the 250th anniversary of Baskerville鈥檚 death, researchers will use a blend of pioneering digital technology and traditional methods to examine the work of the 18th century cultural icon, who created one of the world鈥檚 most widely used and enduring typefaces.
