Colleagues from the聽Organ 补苍诲听Learning and Participation departments at RBC paid a visit to RBC St Benedict鈥檚 Primary School of Music in Small Health recently.
St Benedict鈥檚 Primary School is RBC鈥檚 only Primary School of Music, which enables pupils at the school to listen to, enjoy and perform alongside world-class musicians.
During the visit, RBC staff and students delivered interactive workshops to 60 Year 4 pupils, exploring the organ and the science behind the sound.
The following day, the children visited RBC鈥檚 Organ Studio to experience the power of the new Juliet organ in an interactive and exploratory concert, which for all, was their first organ concert.
Head of Organ Studies聽Daniel Moult introduced the schoolchildren to the organ, its history and how it works. He said: "It was a unique and invaluable experience for some of our organ students to work alongside the Learning and Participation Department. Such collaborations give transformative experiences to the children involved. We can't wait to further develop this wonderful pilot project.鈥
Learning and Participation Project Support Officer聽Ben Jones said: 鈥溾楻BC St Benedict鈥檚 Primary School of Music鈥檚 pupils enjoyed the workshop and the concert. Their favourite moments included creating a human-powered organ, exploring sound waves with organ pipes and being an audience at their first organ concert, which they said only felt like it was four minutes long.鈥
The Organ Department will be delivering more workshops in 2025, working with more partner schools and welcoming new young audiences to RBC.
